In my opinion, the Singapore government has made Singapore a much better place since independence. If not for the practical policies and workable measures that the government had taken, I think that we would probably still be in the midst of slums and an economic crisis. This has enabled Singaporeans to be more confident and respectful of our government.

After much research on the Internet, i have found a recent policy that portrays the principle of pragmatism, in terms of governance. As we all know, Singapore lacks natural resources, and this is a major barrier when it comes to our daily needs. The most common example is our water. Recently, the government has expressed its gratitude towards Malaysia for supplying us with water all these years. Although the water supplied has been of great help to Singapore, the government forsees that Singaporeans also need to build up a source of water for ourselves. In this way, we wiill not have to sign anymore Water Agreements in the future. Then, not only can we be self-sufficient in water, but we will also have a chance to concentrate on better bilateral relations with Malaysia, instead of debating on the sensitive issue of water. The greatest aim of this Water policy is to make sure that our future generations of Singaporeans will never be short of drinking water. Currently, supporting this policy is the NEwater plan that is growing. In case any of you do not realize, a small quantity of NEwater is already being used to supplement Singapore's drinking water. Air con cooling in some industrial buildings also uses NEwater that is being supplied by the Public Utilities Board (PUB). The reason that lies behind these is that, NEwater is also cheaper than normal potable water, because it requires less maintenance and yet can be recycled.

After reading up on this article, i thought that it was really a very good example of the principle of pragmatism. I feel relieved and glad that our government is not only practising the principle of pragmatism, but also the principle of being forward-looking, when setting up this policy. It is a good thing to be more self-reliant, in case any relations with other countries are interrupted. Of course, being self-reliant all the time is definitely not ideal because Singapore is a small country after all. I think that we can also learn from other countries, such as USA, who have already implemented similar ideas on their water resources. In this way, it will not only be an eye-opening experience but also an opportunity to further heighten our relations with other countries.

it's february already!
goodness, time flies.

WELL. got back the chemistry paper.
BADLY DONE.
oh and of course more tests're coming up next week.
let me see, there's four tests to me.
because of ting xie.
SOME PEOPLE just wants to include our ting xie marks into CA.
uuggh. i am soo gonna flunk chinese this year.
yes and monday, we've got two common tests.
that is, social studies and e.maths
i am pissed off with maths, it's the most horrible thing on earth.
i DON'T understand a single bit of probability on heymath.
all of mr chen's classes got taught on probability
but some other classes aren't. i'm WONDERING if this is fair..
blehh. and as for social studies, i am also going to flunk it.
i have never been good at HISTORY and neither am i going to be good in ss.
YAYY =D
terribly boring subjects! =X

did i mention that we took height and weight already?
i didn't grow taller!!!! -screams-
and i grew heavier. omg

okay and soooo i'm gonna post my comments bout gattaca:

Gattaca is a futuristic show on DNA and how genes can help change one's destiny.
It portrays social discrimination of imperfection in an overly-perfect world. A world in which at the moment you're born, your destiny is set. That destiny, is something your parents are in control of, and this means, the decision of theirs would affect the child's everything. In my opinion, it's going to be a very meaningless life in that scary world. I mean, everything is kinda robotic ( like how the people work in the show). You walk on the streets having the best abilities, the best looks and the best future..It's retarded seeing 'another clone of yourself' walking out there and saying hi to him/her, because basically, everyone's gonna be the SAME. Yes, there are good genes for every imperfection you want to become a trait, BUTTTTT i don't think humans should mess with Mother Nature's creations =D anyway, i think Gattaca's generally interesting. THE END!

so i'm back to post.

after a few weeks in school, i realize secondary three life is VERY tiring,
of course i am not expecting myself to get used to my busy schedule so soon.
but i do hope that i can sleep more, zzz..

hmmm, i feel drained of every single emotion.
in other words, i feel very tired today~
let me see what i've been busy with these few weeks.
oh yes, the first week was nothing but orientation preparation and more orientation preparation.
last week was. pretty fine, but well, i was still busy with things.
this week is worse, WORST, whatever.
i've just been returning at like almost 8 every night.
and what do i do after i get home.
APPARENTLY, i bathe and eat dinner, before doing alot alot of homework late into the night.
i go to bed and wake up next morning at 5am.

i know i'm procrastinating alot. I shall give a few more examples..
1- TINKY WINKY THE TELETUBBY
2- GARFIELD THE CAT
3- TIGGER THE TIGER (!)
And then we hear WINNIE THE POOH.So should I come up with a conclusion that POOH is a kind of friggin animal though it sounds insanely stupid. Therefore Pooh is a PARTICULAR species of animal we should not call it POOH BEAR. It's just like saying teletubby bear , cat bear or tiger bear. You can call it Winnie Bear but not Pooh bear.I think I should remind Winnie that it should not wear a tube top with the word POOH on it because it's a far too general term. =D'

how very true.

oOolalahh.
imisstwobee'OHFIVEE
ilovetwobee'OHFIVEE
i'm becoming insanely desperate for 2005 to come back.
well, but time never stops, does it?
sigh

hmm.
height and weight should be approaching soon.
i'm gonna face the moment of truth.
WHAT IF I HADN'T GROWN TALLER
ugggh!

hahh. anyway 2006 isn't a good year, really.
i still can't imagine myself studying like there's no tomorrow for every test.
and surviving on only a few pathetic hours of sleep everyday..

hehehh. this has been a rather neutral post.
shall end off here, till next time!

feel-*
